Aunt Ella's Pool: Flip-Flop Album

If you like flip-flops, summer and swimming, then you are going to love this album. Believe it or not, these quick pages in the shape of flip-flops can be quite versatile. You can use it as a hybrid album . . . use a pair of real flip-flops as the front and back cover . . . use the front and back cover provided . . . or use these quick pages in your regular scrapbook pages. Scroll down to check out the sample album I made as a gift to my granddaughter's little friend, Riley. She had an aloha swimming birthday party. For their party favors the little girls decorated their own pair of flip-flops. Riley's party was actually the inspiration for this album. I used the photos from Riley's party for the sample album, which I will give to Riley.

Watch for the coordinating album "Aunt Ella's Pool – Revisited," which will be available in my Digitals store very soon.

Have you met my Aunt Dorie?

Aunt Dorie was my mother's oldest sister. A kinder, sweeter woman never lived. She was a strong Christian woman who raised her two children alone after her husband died young. Some of my fondest childhood memories are spending the night with Aunt Dorie and being allowed to sleep in her big comfy feather bed. Sometimes we don't realize what a big impact a person has had on our life until we are adults with a family of our own. This was the case with my Aunt Dorie. These kits are my small way of saying, "Thanks, Aunt Dorie, I love you."

I'd love for you to check out my "Aunt Dorie's Doo-Dads" and "Dear Aunt Dorie" kits.

Merry Christmas (in July!)

Here are the final pages for your "year in review" album. I have so enjoyed your visits to Scrapville. I hope you have, too, and will come back often to our little corner of the world. If you are not already a member of our Scrapville Yahoo Group, I hope you will sign up now. Members of our group (Scrapvillians) receive periodic gifts and coupons that no one else receives. We have kept our promise to not flood your Inbox with emails and ads. We only send one or two ads a week. If you'd like to join, just scroll all the way down at the bottom of this page and click on the "join Yahoo" button.

Okay, back to Day 12 of the Polar Express Blog Train. One page shows Santa dressed in his comfortable country overalls along with his faithful country pooch. But, again, there's a plain page that would be appropriate to use with any event in December. (Day 12 has been disabled.)

From the Attic Series

My series "From the Attic" was designed especially for heritage photos (here and here), but I've also done layouts with these kits using current-day photos (here and here). These kits were my first attempt at heritage kits and I love them. But I might be a bit biased. LOL.

Polar Blog Express Train Day 11 - November

Only two more stops on the Polar Blog Express – the November pages (Day 11 has been disabled) and the December pages (Day 12). The two November pages also use elements from my kit "Fall Harvest Party." I live in Indiana and we like to tell people that there's more than corn in Indiana. But, to be honest, there is an awful lot of corn! LOL. So, a fall kit wouldn't be complete without some some stalks of corn. Here in the U.S. November is a time for Thanksgiving to celebrate our bountiful harvest. But since corn may not be a big deal where you come from, I've also given you a blank page you can use for November or for any additional page.

Look at me!

Thank you all for coming back day after day, I do really appreciate you.
I love having the opportunity to show you some of my "stuff!"
So . . . here's today's advertisements. ;-)

Polar Blog Express Train Reminders

Only three more days to go and then our Polar Express Blog Train comes to a screeching halt! I hope you've been able to get all the pages. If not, the complete set of pages will be available for sale at Digitals soon after July 25th. Did you find the hidden Christmas gifts at Digitals? You can go straight to my hint to find my hidden gift. This is the free mini-kit you will receive as a gift if you can find the Christmas present graphic in my store. Also don't miss out on my 25% off sale at Digitals through the 25th. It's the perfect time to stock up on those kits you now you've been wanting. ;-)

Day 10 - October Page

The Day 10 download (link has been disabled) is the October page. In the U.S.A October is a time for fall harvest parties and trick or treating. These pages use elements from my "Fall Harvest Party" kit.

Again, don't be confused if there are extra (Mac) files in the download, just ignore them. ;-)

Tuesday, July 22, 2008

My youngest son, Damon, was the inspiration for my Ruggedly Handsome kits. I had pictures of Damon taken on his first Father's Day. He had on a cowboy hat and was playing on the slip-n-slide with the kids. His own baby son was too little to play on the slip-n-slide, but he sure did enjoy watching his Daddy being silly. When I was looking for a theme for a masculine kit, the photos of my son immediately came to mind.

Day 9 (September) ready for you!

Chug-chug-woo-woo! The Polar Express Blog Train has another download for you. LOL. The Day 9 (September) pages use elements from my "Ruggedly Handsome" kits. (Day 9 link has been disabled.)

PLEASE NOTE: If you are using a PC/Windows you may see one or two extra files in this download. I just got a new computer (woo-hoo!) and the compression (zip) program I usually use did not get installed from my old computer. So, I'm using the compression program that came with my new Mac computer. This program puts some Mac files in the download that PC users will not be able to open. That's okay, they are not files you need. You should be able to open the five files included in this download (2 pages, 1 header, 1 preview and 1 TOU). If you have any problem in the download, please email me so I will have your return email address. But if you see extra files besides the five and you can't open the extra files, don't be concerned.

Do you have Disney photos to scrap?

One of my most popular series has been "The Most Wonderful Place on Earth" series. My daughter and her family LOVE Disney World and I've been with them several times. That means we have a lot of photos with the Disney characters and princesses. That's how the idea for these kits came about . . . I wanted to scrap them digitally yet I wanted elements that really went with the pictures. I have about 16 kits in this series, so pull up a seat, have a cup of coffee and wander through that part of my store. In addition to the individual kits, I also have two sets of quick pages to help you scrap your photos fast and easy.

Kits to go with Disney princesses photos

A visit to Disney isn't complete until you've had your photo taken with one or all of the Disney Princesses. Let me help you preserve those special memories with "My Little Princesses" kit and my "Desert Diva" kit. You get four full kits in the My Little Princesses kit (Cinder Rylee, Binzer and the Beast, Fairest of Them All, and Napping Nada) all for the low, low price of $4.88 while it's on sale through July 25.

The Desert Diva kit can be purchased separately for only $2.63 during the 25% off sale.

Got Animal Kingdom photos?

A visit to Disney World wouldn't be complete without going to Animal Kingdom. I designed Sibby's Safari Adventure exactly for this purpose. My granddaughter, Sydney, was a site to behold when we went on our first safari trip through Animal Kingdom. It was more fun watching her face as she saw the animals than it was to see the animals for myself. LOL.

August - Day 8 of the Polar Express Blog Train

Even though the above preview says it's Day 7, it really is Day 8! Sorry for the confusion, I forgot to change the day on the preview.

We're moving right along with our 12 days of Christmas in July and the blog express is speeding down the track. Today's download is for the month of August. Where I live August is very hot and humid. The only flowers still alive in my yard are the most hardy of flowers, such as the marigolds. So that's the flower I've used on the August page, the hardy marigold. The elements used in these pages are from my Summer Gold kit. As with all of my daily downloads, I've given you a plain page in case your seasons don't match mine. ;-) (This link has now been disabled.)

Don't forget to check out that FREE photobook from "Inkubook"

Scroll down the page to see how you can get a FREE photobook from a newly launched company.

My First Haircut

You know that first haircut for your little one can be a traumatic experience for Mommy and the little one. He's not sure why he's been put up in that strange chair and there's someone coming at him with scissors. You know when he comes down from the chair he's going to look like a little kid instead of your baby. You will definitely want to save the memories of the "before" and "after" photos. There's no better way to do that than with my kit First Haircut or with the First Haircut Quick Pages.

Day 7 of the album pages celebrates Independence Day in the U.S.A. But don't worry, for those of you who do not live in the U.S. there is also a "plain" page you can use. The page with the flag uses elements from my kit "Patriotic Kids." The other page uses elements from my kit "Big Sister - Lil' Sister. (Link has been disabled.)

Do you have a princess in your life?

If the answer to that question is "yes," then you need to have a kit worthy of your little princess. My kit "An Everyday Princess" and the add-on kit both have a lot of unique elements that you won't find anywhere else. Not only would the kit be perfect for pics of your little girl playing princess dress-up, but there are also birthday elements and Easter basket elements. I've used this kit for layouts of my youngest granddaughter, Chloe, when she was tiny . . . it's great for baby girl page layouts.

The Big Game Party Pack

I designed this kit to go with the teams who played in the biggest football game of the year. You know the one . . . where everyone gathers in front of the big-screen TV, eats a lot of junk food and yells for their favorite team. If you are a fan of the "patriotic" team or of the "gigantic" team this kit was created with you in mind. I bet you could even find a way to use it for your little football gal or guy. Take a closer look at it here.

Are you ready for Day 6 - June? I am!

I'm glad you all are enjoying the train ride! From what I'm hearing from the other designers and the comments I'm getting from you, the train is full and gaining speed. LOL. (The Day 6 (June) download link has been disabled.) When you collect all 12 months (24 pages) you will have a great little book to make as a gift for grandparents or a year in review for yourself. I know the weekends are busy for everyone, but don't forget to come back each day. Remember, each link is only available for 24 hours.

The elements used for these pages are from a kit I hope to have in the Digitals store by Sunday evening.

Free Photo Book from new personal photo book company "Inkubook"

I received an email from an old college friend who now works for a new company that produces personal photo books.

Here is the email I received from my friend:

Inkubookthe company I started working with in December, publicly launched our site today. It’s a site dedicated to helping people make personal photo books. If you've ever made a book from someplace like Shutterfly,  Picaboo, Blurb, or My Publisher,  then this is the same idea. It’s done entirely online. It integrates with Flickr, so if you store photos there you can pull them right into your book. And a really nice feature is that you can invite other people to upload photos or text to your book project so that you can use them in your book (for example, if you've gone on a family vacation, you can easily get photos that other people took without having to email back and forth).

The address is www.inkubook.com.

To celebrate the launch, Inkubook is giving away free photo books (one per customer). Visit this page to get the promo code: www.inkubook.com/freephoto. All you have to do to get the book is sign up and invite at least one person to your project. (That one person needs to sign up, but it doesn't matter if he or she actually contributes anything to your book.) The book itself is free no matter what size or style you make. You pay shipping and taxes (if taxes are applicable).

Kits to help you get your kids' school pictures in albums

School's out, summer's here, what better time to get those school photo into albums the kids can really enjoy looking at. There is a set of 12 quick pages that all you had to do is drop your photos behind, do some journaling and you're done! But if you'd rather create your own pages, my two kits "Miss Binzer's Backpack" and "Sibby Goes to Kindergarten" can be used over and over and mixed in together for some wonderful school layout pages.

How do I use these pages?

I've had a few questions about how you are supposed to use these pages I'm offering during the Polar Express Blog Train. Do I need to buy the physical album? Or, can I just use these pages? Since I'm a very simple person myself, I'm going to give very simple directions.

These particular pages I'm giving away were made to be used with the Cosmo Cricket "Jack" Album, which is sold at Digitals. This is a physical album you purchase and then Stacey will mail you the album. If you purchase the album during our 12 days of Christmas sale (through July 25) you can get this six-page album for only $3.80.

You use these pages just like you would use any quick page of any size. If you are going to print your pages on your home printer, you can get two pages on one 8.5x11 sheet of photo paper. I personally create a document 8.5x11 then pull my little quick page onto the new document. Then I drop the photos I want to use behind the QP. Add any journaling you want as you would with any other page. Then I pull another little QP onto the document and add the photos I want behind that page. I crop the photos so nothing is "hanging out" from behind the QP. This is not really necessary since you will cut out around the page anyway. But for me it helps me to see how the page is really going to look once I cut it out.

Once you have the two little QPs and pictures set up on the 8.5x11 document, just print it out like any other scrapbook page you might print at home.

Next step is to cut out around the pages and adhere each page to the physical album. A lot of hybrid scrappers like to add real elements, like buttons or ribbons to some or all of the pages. But the pages are "finished" looking whether you add physical elements or not.

Once you have printed all your pages and adhered them to the physical album pages, clip them all together with the binder ring that comes with the album. Then, if you want, you can tie a piece of ribbon or bow of some sort to the binder ring.

All that is left to do is to sit back while all your friends and family "oohs" and "ahhs" over this cute little album you've created! LOL.

My "Everyday Hybrid" Jack Album

If you like the shape of this little album and would like to do another one, I have a denim set of pages you might just have to have! I love denim and tend to use it a lot in my own albums. This particular set of pages is purposely made very plain so you can add as many or as few real elements to the pages as you want. Even though I mostly used real elements like buttons and ribbon on my album, I have included some digital elements you can add to your pages if you want.

To display my album I purchased an ornament hanger from the Michael's craft store. It's the perfect size and looks so cute on my living room photo table.

Day 5 (May) of the Polar Express Blog Train

I hope everyone has been able to come by every day to pick up one of these pages. I really appreciate the comments you've left.

The May page for the blog train is one of my favorite pages in this album and uses elements from my kit "Ladybug Garden." I love seeing a field of daisies. There's just something so wholesome and refreshing about daisies. This bouquet of daisies has a little ladybug snuggled in the petals and is tied up neatly with a black and white dotted bow. As with the other downloads you also get a "plain" page to use anyway you like . . . either as a coordinating page for a two-page spread or instead of the decorated page altogether.

Do you have 4th of July photos you need to scrap . . .

. . . and you want something whimsical and fun? Boy, do I have a kit for you. ;-) Last year on the 4th of July my granddaughters and several of their friends (and their parents) put together their very own Independence Day Parade through their neighborhood. Their little parade was the inspiration for this kit, "Patriotic Kids." You can get this fun kit for only $3.19 if you grab it while my 25% off sale is going on (July 14-25).

Picture Yourself Creating Digital Scrapbooks

A few months back I was fortunate enough to be a contributing designer for a book written by Lori J. Davis and Sally Beacham, Picture Yourself Creating Digital Scrapbooks. I just wanted to take a moment here to show you the two kits of mine that are exclusive to that book. I was so pleased with the little tricycle and wagon that I made for the "Let's Play!" kit that I made a similar one for sale at Digitals (Patriotic Kids). I bet you have some photos of your kids or grandkids at play that would go perfectly with one of these kits.

The "Long Ago Love" kit was designed at the request of one of the authors to go with an old colorized wedding photo she had. The soft colors in that kit would be great for any heritage photos.

Okay, I'm through bragging about being published and it's back to current business. LOL.

Polar Express Blog Train -- Day 4

I'm posting early for day 4 because I want to sleep in a bit tomorrow morning. LOL. I've been getting up early to hit the "post" button every morning because I can't figure out how to automatically post at a certain time. So, you can benefit perhaps from the extra hours this link will be available.

The Day 4 pages use one of my favorite kits (I have a lot of favorite kits -- LOL), Welcome to My Hometown: Ednie's Early Risers. When you purchase ;-) this kit, be sure to read the "backstory included with the files. If you grab the kit while my 25% off sale is still going on (July 14-25) this full-sized kit is only $3.19. You'll be amazed at what all you get for that little bitty price.

And now a word from our sponsor . . .

I hope you've been enjoying the freebies. I really appreciate the wonderful comments and emails. Now that I have your attention with the freebies I'd like to highlight a couple of my favorite kits. If you are at all familiar with my designs, you know that most of my inspiration for kits comes from my grandkids (three girls, three boys, ages 7 months to 9 years).

My kit "Jake's Pockets" and "Posie Pockets" were both inspired by Jake and Lindsey, who both love to collect critters. I am always very leery when either one of them comes up to me, opening their hand, and says, "Look, Yay-Yay, what I found!" With the 25% off sale right now, these two kits are less than $4.00 each. What a deal!

My mini-kit "Momma's Little Art Gallery" was inspired by all that wonderful artwork my grandchildren (and my children before them) give me. It's always a dilemma as to what to do with the art. It goes on the refrigerator, held on by a magnet for a while. But then what? As sure as I throw it out, the next time the child comes to my house s/he wants to know what happened to the drawing. One way you can save those special drawings is to incorporate them into your scrapbooking. It's not only a great way to preserve your child's artwork, but it really makes them feel special. With the 25% off, this little kit is only $1.31. That's right, only $1.31.

Many of my kits are inspired by my grandkids so if you have kids or grandkids you will certainly relate to my kits.

Thanks for participating and don't get "off track" cause there's lots more to come!

The Most Wonderful Place on Earth: Mouse Vows

Glenda has finished a new addition to her series, The Most Wonderful Place on Earth. The new Mouse Vows kit is perfect for any layouts of your trips to Disney World or Disneyland, but especially perfect for layouts of your Disney honeymoon or anniversary visit. While she can't put "ears" on the bride hat and groom hat for you, I'm sure you can be creative with some "circles" she has provided.

While you're at Digitals purchasing this kit, be sure to check out all her other kits in The Most Wonderful Place on Earth series.
